For 30 years, we have been designing with and installing Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). In the beginning we were using them exclusively to enclose our timber frames. Appreciating their unique structural benefits, we started incorporating the panels into floor systems and eventually framed entire buildings out of SIPs. We have learned on the job and now we will share our experience as well as the most up-to-date installation techniques. In this one day, hands-on seminar students will learn to spec and order panels, produce the most efficient panel layout, cut panels and prep them for assembly, cut openings for windows and doors, run wiring in panels, create air-tight joints between panels, install buck boards and learn the proper use of big reds, foam guns, splines, foam scoops, meat hooks, paddle routers, and chain saws in panel construction.

Students will become familiar with the essential benefits and potential pitfalls of working with panels. Over the years, we have worked with several major manufacturers and will justify our conclusion that R-Control panels are the best on the market. Gain familiarity with this innovative building material, its vocabulary, equipment, and fasteners so you can spec it or install it yourself on your next house.

Class starts at 8:30am and run to 5pm, with a one-hour lunch break.

The non-refundable registration fee holds a place in class. The balance of tuition is due the first day of class. Once you register, we send you a welcome letter along with our housing list so you can make appropriate arrangements for your stay.
