The Opinel knife was invented by Joseph Opinel around 1895. By the start of World War II as many as 20 million had been sold. The company is still run by the Opinel family in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, France.
We were first introduced to the Opinel pocket knives in the 1970s, when Patsy purchased one in France and fell in love. This is a durable little pocket knife, the beechwood handle is comfortable to hold and has a clear finish on it. The stainless steel blade holds an edge beautifully and is resistant to rust. If you prefer something that holds an edge even longer but is susceptable to rust, we suggest the carbon blade.
The Number 06 has a stainless steel collar that swivels to lock the knife open or closed and is ideal for picnicking, whittling or simply to carry in your pocket for the odd job.
Folded Length: 3-3/4-inches
Open Length: 6-1/2-inches
Blade Length: 2-7/8-inch
